5 Star Review Great Card!!!

Strengths:

-Lots of power -Dual DVI -Easy Install

Weaknesses:

No HDR or SM3.

Posted May 7, 2006 - I got this card for a good price and it has so far been a great investment. If you compare the benchmarks for this card against the new x1000 series cards you will see that the X850 is just as good or better. Plus the x1600-x1800 series card are much more expensive.

4 Star Review runs hot and loud...but good card

Strengths:

fast enough to compete in current games

Weaknesses:

the stock fan is way too loud, and it does not do a good job of cooling the card itself.

Posted May 5, 2006 - i got this card to upgrade my geforce 6800 vanilla card. My initial expression was pretty bad because the card's stock cooling system was very loud! And the worse part was that it got so hot that the ATI catalyst program would tell me thatthe card is too hot and needs to be underclocked. ATI should've really used a better heatsink design. well, i bought an arctic silencer 5 and replaced the stock cooler. it's so much quieter and it actually cooled better than the stock. the card itself runs quite nicely now. i have it running on a dell 24" lcd and the graphcis are really nice. the only other problem i experienced was that the card consumes a lot of power. my computer is hooked up to a UPS battery system and every time i play a graphic intensive game, the UPS will beep saying that the computer is drawing too much power. this never happened when i had the 6800 video card. besides that, i'd say this card is good.

4 Star Review ATI - x1900

Strengths:

256mb pci-e

Weaknesses:

none yet

Posted May 5, 2006 - excelent card great price I must say that upgrading from AGP to PCI-Experess has made a huge difference. I had the nvidea 5200 before which was good for games and videos I have done. but now with the new games out and the requirements it needs in order to get a good video resolution you need to have the latest. About every other year you need to invest

4 Star Review Excellent card price/performance ratio

Strengths:

High performance 16 pipe video card accepted by most indicators as one of the best 16 pipe video card. The price - at Microcenter is $150 after $50 mail in rebate, plus taxes on $200.

Weaknesses:

Lacks sm3 & SMAA

Posted May 5, 2006 - Bought this card for my kid who is into computer gaming. Excellent card for the price. I like the fact that it is made by ATI. Oblivion, Dreamfall, Fear and COD2 - for people whom these make sense- are some of the 'stuff' my boy uses this for. And he is extremely happy with the card.

5 Star Review Excellent Video Card for Gaming or Media

Strengths:

Easy install and setup, outstanding cooling via large heatsink and fan, 256MB of GDDR3 memory

Weaknesses:

Requires TWO slots due to large fan and heatsink

Posted May 5, 2006 - This is a great video card. I had it installed and setup in under 15 minutes! The box says it is powered to play Doom3, and boy is it ever! I realize the game is over a year old now, but most people still lack the hardware to make it run optimally. For me, that is no longer the case. It looks beautiful and flows flawlessly. I am proud to own this video card. It features 256MB of GDDR3 RAM, dual DVI, S-Video and Composite in/out, HDTV support, and much more. Compare it to other cards and you will see that it is a steal for the price!
